The Science of Hyaluronic Acid
![]() |
Dr. Scott Pierce, the researcher and founder of Conquer HA, is a partner in the world renowned Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. For several years Dr. Pierce could not understand why Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a
natural substance found in all vertebrates, could not be absorbed orally like glucosamine and chondroitin, which are similar molecules.
Until recently, Hyaluronic Acid has only been used to inject directly into an arthritic joint. In 1999 Dr. Pierce began his research to find a more convenient form of Hyaluronic Acid that would allow it to become an effective oral supplement. During his research, Dr. Pierce consulted with HA scientists and researchers from around the world. He reviewed dozens of research projects investigating the ways to use HA and their independent levels of effectiveness. Being that HA is an all-natural and non-toxic supplement found in healthy joints and connective tissues, its use for joint health had become a major focal area. |
Through various studies that Dr. Pierce performed, it was found that Hyaluronic Acid serves to lubricate the joint, protect and nourish cartilage surfaces, and then scavenge the free radicals and debris that occur secondary to inflammation. A survey, taken of people taking Conquer HA, reported favorable results in 93% of the cases. Joint problems including hips, fingers, ankles, knees, shoulders and backs were repeatedly relieved with the first two weeks of therapy. This is in sharp contrast to other joint supplements, which require many months to show a noticeable effect, if any was shown at all. The big advantage to Conquer HA is the noticeable difference within 7 to 14 days.
Dr. Pierce further discovered that better tissue integrity, lower incidence of bacterial invasion, increased circulatory lubrication, better nourishment to cartilage, scavenging of free radicals, increasing molecular transport between cells, and reducing fatigue were additional benefits reported during his research. His groundbreaking discovery in the use of this new method of Hyaluronic Acid for oral use has produced the most natural, safe and effective oral application of Hyaluronic Acid supplementation available. The results were so impressive that Dr. Pierce has received a patent for this unique and incredibly effective oral application that led to the production of Conquer HA.
Patented Formula
Conquer HA is uniquely formulated and protected by a United States Patent. Conquer HA was issued a patent because the formula was proven to be more effective and easily absorbed than any other HA product on the market. For more information visit United States Patent Number 6924273.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a key natural component of all connective tissue in the body. It declines with age and a deficiency causes numerous age-associated issues. It has a high ability to attract water and hold it in proper structure. HA also enables all body tissues to have resiliency, move without friction, and distribute loads (shock absorbers). It appears to have a number of functions with the highest levels found in the joints and connective tissues. There are also high levels found in the eyes, cartilage, heart, intervertebral discs of the spine and in the fluids of the middle and inner ear. Some specific body parts are made up of large amounts of HA:
- The synovial fluid of all joints, providing lubrication and cushioning.
- The eye, providing a cushion that protects the retina from damage (a shock absorber in case you get hit in the eye) and aids in vision.
- As a structural component and backbone of cartilage.
- As a key structural factor in the epidermal layer of the skin (keeping skin more youthful).
What is the Role of Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is found in the synovial joint fluid, the vitreous humor of the eye, the cartilage, blood vessels, extracellular matrix and skin. This unique natural substance has critical physiological roles in our bodies including:
- Synovial Joint Fluid
Hyaluronic Acid is responsible for joint lubrication, absorbing shock and through its ability to attract water and liquids supply nutrients to cartilage. This is important because cartilage is not supplied with blood vessels and relies on the joint fluid to supply these nutrients and to cleanse the joint of impurities. Damaged cartilage cells release enzymes that decrease the HA content of the joint thereby causing friction and poor joint function. - Component of Cartilage
Cartilage is composed of connective tissue. Cartilage acts much like a sponge in your joint, absorbing shock and providing strength and flexibility. A key component of cartilage is Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid helps keep cartilage healthy by keeping it moist, pliable and attracting nutrients. - Structural Stability
Hyaluronic Acid provides support of all body parts providing structural stability, resiliency and movement with less friction. It is natures “shock absorber”. - In the Skin
The connective tissues of the skin are composed of Hyaluronic Acid and related molecules along with collagen and elastic connective tissues. Large amounts of water are drawn into the skin by Hyaluronic Acid. When Hyaluronic Acid levels decrease in the skin due to aging, the elastic connective tissues are not bathed by water. When this happens it becomes dry and brittle resulting in wrinkled skin. - Vision
Hyaluronic Acid is a key component of the vitreous humor of the eye. It assists vision and protects the retina from injury by absorbing shock. - Antioxidant
Hyaluronic Acid acts as a powerful antioxidant helping to prevent damage to inflamed tissues and scavenging free radicals. - Immune System
Hyaluronic Acid supports the immune system by providing structural integrity to the tissues inhibiting bacteria and viruses from reaching the cells. It is also a key component in cellular communication and regulation. - Circulation
Hyaluronic Acid is an important part of the cardiovascular system. Its lubricating qualities help blood flow through the body.
How is Hyaluronic Acid available?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is not in the diet in any appreciable amounts. Until now, the only way one could receive HA was through a synthetic HA that is injected. It is commonly used for knee problems, wound healing, and cosmetic surgery. A new breakthrough in research has found a natural Hyaluronic acid, at a much more reasonable price than these costly synthetic injections, which is absorbed orally Conquer HA.
This is a tremendous advance in nutritional science, as Hyaluronic Acid is one of the oldest molecules in evolution. It is truly a survival molecule, as it adapts to and even regulates the repair needs of the human body. It is a great deal more than just a structural substance. This opens the door to potential healing and repair that has not previously been possible.
How is Conquer HA manufactured?
Traditionally, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) has been produced by extracting it from rooster combs or ground up chicken sternums. These methods are less expensive and lead to a product with low purity levels in the 10 to 15% range. They are also not optimal for people with food based allergies to chickens. Conquer HA uses a cutting edge process to produce HA that has been derived from an extra cellular protein produced by a natural biofermentation process.
The advantages of Conquer HA’s biofermentation process, is that it creates the most pure Hyaluronic Acid (HA) on the market. The content of HA is 92% pure or greater. Along with being the purest HA on the market Conquer HA is produced at the proper molecular weight for maximum absorption and effectiveness. Another important factor is that Conquer HA is manufactured in an FDA inspected facility that complies with Good Manufacturing Practices set by the FDA.
